Obituary

Ridgeway – Donald C. Johnson, age 91, of Ridgeway, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Bloomfield Healthcare, surrounded by his family.

Donald and his twin brother, Dallas, were born in Dodgeville, on October 16, 1923 to Clarence and Daisy (Love) Johnson. He attended Ruggles Country School, as well as, Yeager School.

Donald married Betty Paull on December 16, 1947. The couple farmed for many years prior to Donald taking a custodial position at the school in Ridgeway in 1960. He continued his work there for the next 28 years, until his retirement in 1988.

In his free time, Donald enjoyed playing cards, hunting, dancing, spending time on the Wisconsin River fishing and camping, and with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Donald is survived by his wife, of Betty of 67 years; his son, Gary (Kathy) Johnson, of Ridgeway; his daughter, Joyce (Dennis) Weier, of Barneveld; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Jeff) Bradley, of Dodgeville, Brett Weier (special friend, Lisa), of Hyde, Heidi (Patrick) Lawton, of Ridgeway and Hilari (Lance) Lansing, of Darlington; nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Claire, Kelly, Casey, Grant, Gehrig, Grady, Gabriella and Liam; his brothers, Norman Johnson, of DeForest, Bud (Brenda) Johnson, of Sarasota, FL and Norbert (Diana) Johnson, of Madison; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert Paull, of Cathedral City, CA and Alice Paull, of Rapid City, SD.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Daisy Johnson, his parents-in-law, Bert and Esther Paull, his twin brother, Dallas, his brother, Chester Johnson and sister-in-law, Darlene Johnson, his sister, Mary Ellen Eveland and brother-in-law, Bradley Eveland, his sister-in-law, Dorothy Johnson and his brother-in-law, Eugene Paull.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Pastor Jim Droste will officiate. Burial will be held in Eastside Cemetery in Ridgeway. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a luncheon at Grace United Methodist Church in Ridgeway following the burial.

Donald's family would like to thank Bloomfield Healthcare and the Upland Hills Hospice staff for the wonderful care he received while he resided there the last 2 years of his life.
