Dodgeville – Dennis L. Fingerson, age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dennis was born on May 5, 1951, to Bernadette "Dolly" and LaVerne Fingerson. He graduated from Dodgeville High School and began his working career as a busboy before becoming a talented chef at Thym's Supper Club. It was there that he met the love of his life, Deborah "Deb" Rossing. The two were united in marriage on October 1, 1977, and shared nearly 49 years of love, friendship, and adventure together.

After marriage, Dennis founded Midwest Sealcoat, a business that became his life's passion. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the company until his final days. Many of his employees had been with him since the beginning and became more like family than coworkers. Dennis took great pride in the relationships he built and the business he grew through hard work, integrity, and dedication.

Dennis and Deb enjoyed traveling together, especially to Las Vegas and Mexico, often creating lasting memories alongside their dear friends, Kenny and Sally Burgess. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Some of his favorite times were spent fishing and hunting with his son Jay, his uncle Tom, his father-in-law Pat Thym, Jack Schulte, and his brother Steve on trips out west and to Canada.

Of all the things Dennis loved, family was at the center of his life. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren, teaching them to fish at the pond on the family farm. Family gatherings were always special occasions, and Dennis was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. A gifted cook, he could prepare an incredible meal in no time. His beef stroganoff was legendary, his steaks unmatched, and there was always more than enough food on the table. He also enjoyed dining out, especially at the many supper clubs around the Dodgeville area.

Dennis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah; his daughter, Farrah (Andy) Slinger; his son, Jason (Jodi) Fingerson; and his five beloved grandchildren, Ben, Damien, and Charlotte Slinger, and Elsie and Josie Fingerson. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry James; his brother, Steve Fingerson; his Uncle Tom Stephens (Karin) and many other cherished family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Bernadette "Dolly" Schulte; his stepfather, Jack Schulte, his father, LaVerne Fingerson; his stepmother, Betty Fingerson; his mother-in-law, Loretta Thym; his father-in-law, Patrick Thym; his brother-in-law, Mitch Thym; and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Dennis will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love for animals especially his lab, Ally, who never left his side, his generous heart, love of family, and ability to bring people together around a great meal. His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply and the countless lives he touched throughout the years.

Dad, know that you were loved beyond measure. We will miss you tremendously and carry your memory in our hearts forever.

Private services will be held to honor Denny’s life. The family appreciates everyone’s love, support and understanding during this time.
