Obituary

Mineral Point - David Rhey Drake, age 74, of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

Born on February 27, 1951, David was the son of Melvin Guy Drake Jr. and Madonna Jean Lacombe. After the passing of his mother, he was lovingly raised by Hope Adams.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Eileen Drake; his sisters, Gloria and Sharon; and his brother, Lanny.

David proudly served his country for nearly 30 years in the United States military. His life was defined by service—to his family, his country, and his community.

He is survived by his children: Tammy Bradshaw, James Slater, Sheila (John) Dempsey, Katherine Drake, Daniel (Amber) Drake, Davida Drake, and Donald Drake.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jamie, Jessica, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Savannah, Cameron, Raymond, Drake, Parker, Jack, Jameson, Gavin, John, Shayna, and Shania—as well as many beautiful great-grandchildren.

David is further survived by his siblings: Sheila Curtis, John (Dee) Adams, Daniel (Ruby) Drake, Shirley (Leo) Smith, Darrel (Donna) Drake, and Edward (Tammy) Adams.

David was immensely proud of his children, and his devotion to his family was a testament to the kind and generous soul he was.

He wasn't just an amazing father—he was an extraordinary human being. His love, wisdom, and strength continue to guide us, and his memory is a constant source of comfort and inspiration. Though he may be gone, his spirit lives on in all those he touched. His legacy will always be a part of us.
