Mineral Point - Darlene B. U'Ren age 81 of Mineral Point died Friday August 23, 2013 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, WI.

Darlene was born on September 20, 1931, the daughter of William and Erna (Strick) Powell. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1949. She married Merle U'Ren on June 3rd 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Point. Darlene worked at the Mineral Point Bakery and Burgess Batteries while Merle was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. In February 1960 they bought the old Humbert farm in Waldwick. Together they farmed for 40 years until they retired to Mineral Point in September 1988.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years Merle U'Ren, daughters Judy (Leon) Wroblewski of Stevens Point and Jerilyn (Scott) Owens of Mineral Point. Four
grandchildren Benjamin (Hanna) Wroblewski of Eau Claire, Danielle (Don) Wroblewski of Stevens Point, Erica (Remington) Owens of Spring Green, and Shelby (Jake) Owens of Eau Claire, a Brother Don (Pat) Powell, sisters Genevieve Peplinski, Frances Powell, Margaret (Bill) Heins, Marian Hunter, a brother in law Homer U'Ren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers William Jr., Harold and Robert (Rachel) Powell, sisters Isabel Hanson and Bernice (Larry) Martin, and a brother-in-law Joe Peplinski.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mineral Point. Pastor Rebecca Henke will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery at a later date. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
