Barneveld – The life of Edwin Dale Theobald, age 88, began on July 23, 1928 at the farm on Mill Dam Road, Barneveld, where he died on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, where he lived his entire life.

Dale was a lifelong farmer, milking cows and raising beef and crops. On June 26, 1960, he married Arlene Maurer at Swiss UCC in New Glarus. They raised two children, Jane and Mike.

Dale was involved in many activities and organizations including, Brigham Town Board for 28 years, Iowa County Board, Barneveld School Board, Barneveld UCC member and Secretary/Treasurer of Middlebury Church Cemetery for over 50 years.

He was an avid woodworker, always making something in his basement for family and friends. He made many Theobald Bros "dump wagons" and silo doors that can be found on many farms around the area.

Dale is survived by his wife, Arlene; his children, Jane (Don) Elmer of New Glarus and Mike (Sheryl) Theobald of Mt. Horeb; his grandchildren, Kyle (Nicole) Elmer, Kelsey Elmer (Maurice Taylor), Reece and Kendyll Theobald; his great granddaughter, Avery Elmer; his brothers, Allen Theobald of Dodgeville and Fred (Vicki) Theobald of Barneveld; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Paul and Bonnie Babcock of Fort Atkinson and Janet Maurer of Hastings, Nebraska; other nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Ruth (Paull) Theobald, his sister-in-law, Ida Theobald and his brother-in-law, Ralph Maurer.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the BARNEVELD UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST. Pastor Carolyn Kennedy will officiate. Burial will be held in Middlebury Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at BARNEVELD UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Dale Theobald Memorial Fund to benefit local charities.
