Dodgeville – Charles E. Smart, Sr., age 69, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on November 25, 1944 in Hazel Green, WI, a son of the late James and Ida (Paquette) Smart. He was raised in Dodgeville and started working for Hennessey Livestock at age 14. He was a Dodgeville graduate Class of 1962 and continued driving for Hennessey Livestock. He was so proud of his perfect driving record on the road of 23 years and 2 million miles. He had a great sense of humor and always had a real great joke. His impressions were unforgettable.
Charlie is survived by four daughters and one son, Carla (Luther) Teller, of Mauston, Sherry (Dirrick) Wahl, of Mineral Point, Jenny (Gerald) Wolfgram, of Edmund, Roxanne (Mike Christianson, of Dodgeville and Greg (Keri) Smart, of Dodgeville; 10 grandchildren; his brother, Kenneth (Kathy) Smart, of Dodgeville; his special friend, Connie Fry, of Dodgeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two step sons, Bill and Jim Billings and his son, Charles E. Smart, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Father Patrick Wendler will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
