Jonesdale - Charles A. "Chuck" Ley, age 92, of Jonesdale, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehab Center.

Chuck was born on January 11, 1922 in Jonesdale, the son of Edward and Irene (Aide) Ley. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1939. He married Mary Alice Schaaf on June 26, 1946 and together they farmed for many years in Jonesdale. Chuck designed and built their house and barn. He enjoyed doing carpenter work along with his farming. After milking for many years he enjoyed raising beef cattle. He was a member of local school boards for 17 years, and was a charter member of the Jonesdale Sportsman's Club. They enjoyed the many vacations with family and friends in their motor home. Chuck also enjoyed trips to the casino and a good game of cards.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; his children, Bob (Leotta) Ley of Jonesdale, Marge (Ken) Sherwin of Richland Center, Marcia Gort of Dodgeville and Randy (Arlene Sommer) Ley of Mineral Point; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dick Ley, his son-in-law Louie Gort, and a special granddaughter Terri Ley, who looked after "Grandpa" if he was working late in the fields, she always showed up with a candy bar and a soda.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Fr. Monte Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and on Saturday from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. at the church.
