Mineral Point- Charlene Lavine Johnston, age 89, of Mineral Point passed away on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Mineral Point.

She was born on August 14, 1927 the daughter of William and Nellie (Meehan) Schemehorn in Shullsburg, WI. Charlene grew up in Riverside, WI and later lived in Milwaukee before settling down in Mineral Point for the rest of her life. She worked at the Farmer's Savings Bank in Mineral Point for a number of years.

Charlene is survived by her three daughters; Sharon Lindeman of Dodgeville, Melody (Doug) Faull of Linden and Rebecca Hoffman of Dodgeville; her grandchildren, Michael Lindeman of Lakeville, MN, Trevor Dailey of Mineral Point, Kayla Cleary of Ridgeway and Chantelle Richmond of Dodgeville; also three great-grandchildren Megan Lindeman, Eric Lindeman, and Jaxson Meuer and relatives and friends.

Charlene is preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons, brothers Delbert Schemehorn, Kenneth Hewitt and Ross Hewitt, sisters Pauline Wilson, Ruth Hartwig, Sarah Thiel, Doris Belgium, and Gladys Lewandowski.

Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Mineral Point. Pastor Gerhardt Miller will officiate. Burial of cremains will be in the Mifflin Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and on Tuesday from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
