Hollandale – Charlene Burkeland, age 91 of Hollandale, WI passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 surrounded by her family.

Born in Green County, WI, Charlene was the daughter of Clarence and Bonnie (Winden) Severson. Charlene attended school in Postville, Black Earth and Argyle. She married Myron Burkeland on July 1, 1950 at Adams Church, rural Argyle, WI. Together they had five children; Gary, Steven (who died in infancy), Carol, Dennis and Dale. Myron and Charlene have 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren.

Charlene was a farm wife, homemaker, lunch lady at Hollandale Elementary and store clerk in both New Glarus and Blanchardville. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, card making and had a green thumb for all kinds of house plants and flowers.

Charlene is survived by her children, Gary (Donna) Burkeland, Carol Carpenter, Dennis (Angela) Burkeland and Dale (Janet) Burkeland, as well as her siblings, Gloria, Luther (Joyce), Sylvanus (Sandy) and Lois.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Myron; baby in infancy, Steven; siblings Edner and Sylvan; parents Clarence and Bonnie; son-in Law, Darrell Carpenter and grandson, Craig Burkeland.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Visitation will be held from 9:30 -11:30 am on Wednesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Lunch will be served at Dodgeville United Methodist Church in Dodgeville.
