Barneveld - Cecil Paul Sickels, loving husband, father, grandpa and great grandpa passed away on July 23, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Cecil was born on August 4, 1930 in Fayette County, Iowa. His goal was to celebrate his 86th birthday, to which he was just a few days short.

Cecil was a hardworking man who held many careers throughout his life. He loved sharing stories of his working days on the railroad, as a logger, milk hauler, construction worker, farmer and his final job working for the Iowa County Highway department. He enjoyed spending hours on the lawn mower and took great pride in having the best and softest grass around. He maintained the White Church Cemetery for many years during his retirement and was very proud of its beauty. Cecil was the most loving and sweet man who loved to fish, hunt and talk for hours with family and neighbors. He enjoyed woodworking projects and fixing lawn mowers in his garage. There wasn't anything that Grandpa wouldn't do or fix for his grandchildren or the little neighbor kids. Family was most important to him and he cherished visits and laughs with everyone.

Cecil was united in marriage to Marilyn Decker on March 15, 1950. After her passing, he married Agnes Pulvermacher Carmody on October 7, 1978.

Cecil is survived by his wife Agnes and children, Terry (Fran) Sickels, Deana (Clyde) Christianson, Mike (Peggy) Carmody, Patrick (Vonee) Carmody, Dennis Carmody, Mary Beckett, Jean (Vic) Halverson, Scott (Denise) Carmody, Colleen (Rick) Zimpel, John (Lisa) Carmody, Ed (Jill) Carmody, Chad (Missy) Sickels; 26 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and three new great grandbabies on the way that he was so hoping to meet; his brother Oakley Sickels and his brother-in-law Wayne Genz.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn; son, Bill Sickels; sister Eva Genz; brothers Arthur Sickels and Gene Sickels and parents Andrew and Bessie Sickels.

The family would like to thank Pastor Donna Morton, Dr. Jodi McGraw and Dr. Peter Mullin along with Agrace Hospice Care for all their love and support during the past 2 years. We would also like to thank Cecil's special ladies for their TLC - Ashley, Lisa, Heather, Kim, Emily and Barb.

A private family service and burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to be given to Agrace Hospice Care would be appreciated.
