Blue Mounds – Carey L. “Red” Scheel, age 72, of Blue Mounds, died on Monday, August 31, 2026 at his residence in Muscoda.

He was born on March 3, 1954 in Portage, a son of the late Kenneth and Charlotte (Haynes) Scheel.

Carey proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1973 – 1977. He worked as a mechanic and was an avid Packers fan, loved bowling and spending time with his family.

Carey is survived by his sister Denise (Ken) Burkhardt of Madison; his nieces Jessi (Mike) Flint, Sabrina Scheel, Nikki (Luke) Peters; his nephews Dustin (Becky) Scheel, Travis Scheel (Cassie), Taylor (Tara) Scheel; his great nieces and nephews Abby, Adison, Eloise, Miles, Jayden, Easton, Asher, Atticus and Ethan; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Garth and his wife Krisanne.

A Celebration of Carey Scheel's life and his brother Garth "Yog" Scheel will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the VFW Post 9511 (Mt. Horeb), 2787 Erbe Road, Blue Mounds, WI  53717.
