Mineral Point - Brian J. McGettigan, age 76, of Mineral Point, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 5, 2014.

Brian was born in Darlington, graduated from Mineral Point High School ('56) and built a career in real estate sales and development in Madison. He was a passionate and dedicated leader in the business community, and retired as owner of The McGettigan Company. It was his honor to serve as President of the Madison Board of Realtors in 1987. He was also proud to be named Madison Realtor of the Year in 1988.

Brian will be dearly missed by his wife Ruthie (Mueller) McGettigan, his son Kevin (Jody) McGettigan, 3 stepchildren Mary (David), John (Pati), and Annie (Dan). His 14 grandchildren were a great joy: Mike, Tina, Nicole, Brittany, Blake, Kilian, Becca, Kelly, Jessie, Chris, Connor, Cameron, Jenna, and Trevor. Part of a large, loving family, he is survived by brothers and sisters Audrey 'Mac' Kuter, Patty (Bud) Harris, Denny (Denise) McGettigan, Karen (Lee) Greenwood, Mark (Sue) McGettigan, Patrick (Michel) McGettigan, Micki (Bill) Fardy. He will also be missed by countless nieces/nephews/other relatives and dear friends!

He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Beryl McGettigan, and his siblings/in-laws Marion and Tony Nardi, Bill 'Buddy' McGettigan, Bill Kuter, Jerry and Bob Kaiser, Fran and Pat McGettigan, Raymond and Joanne McGettigan.

A big hearted, fun loving Irishman, Brian loved life, family and friends. His wish was to have an Irish Wake where his beloved family and friends could join together and celebrate his life (and maybe tell a joke or two!). A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at The Walker House in Mineral Point. Please join the family at 11 a.m. for prayers with celebration following from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. for stories, laughter and hugs.
