Obituary

Waldwick - Bonnie Ferrell, age 102, of Waldwick passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville after a short illness.

Bonnie was born the twin daughter of Guy and Harriet (Wagner) Van Matre on August 15, 1916 at the new house built in 1914 on the Campton-Van Matre farm since 1848. Bonnie attended Georgetown Grade School located close to farm on Dukes Prairie in the Township of Fayette, later graduating from Darlington High School. Bonnie married Homer Ferrell in 1938 and they farmed in the Town of Fayette on English Hollow Rd. formerly Devonshire Hollow until 1965. They then moved to Verona until 1972. After retiring, they resided in the village of Waldwick untill the age of 97. Bonnie made her home from 2013 until her death at the Gary and Shirley Cahoon home in Dodgeville. She was baptized and a confirmed member of the Waldwick Methodist Church, which is now the Waldwick Community Church. She was also a school board member of the Waldwick school.

Bonnie is survived by her son Donald J. (Kathleen) Ferrell of Fayette Township who still operate the Campton-Van Matre family farm, grandchildren; Steven (Dawn) Ferrell of Menominee Falls, Todd (Linette) Ferrell of McFarland and Tammy (Rick) Peters of Madison, a granddaughter-in-law Lynelle Moseley of Darlington; 8 grandchildren David and Daniel Ferrell, Nicholas and Tyler Ferrell, Joe and Jackie Moseley, and Emily and Molly Peters.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Jean Ann Ferrell Moseley, her twin sister Bess (Paul) U'ren, her brother Russell (Norma) Van Matre, a daughter-in-law Nancy Swenson Ferrell and a grandson Scott Moseley.

A Celebration of Bonnie Ferrell's Life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Waldwick Community Church in Waldwick. Inurnment will be held in the Waldwick Cemetery. Pastor David Ritchie will officiate. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 12 noon until time of service at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Waldwick Community Church or the Waldwick Cemetery.
