Mineral Point - Betty Schmit, age 95, of Mineral Point passed away peacefully on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center in Dodgeville.

She was born on April 20, 1922 the daughter of William and Fern (Greenwood) Vivian. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1941. In 1952, Betty married Raymond "Dutch" Schmit. She worked at Burgess Battery, General Telephone Company, and later as a CNA at the Mineral Point Care Center until retirement. She enjoyed babysitting her grandkids Cory, Cortney, and Katie, and also Matt, Mandy, and Mike McKinley. She lived at home until 2014 and then made Upland Hills Nursing & Rehab Center her home in October of 2014.

Betty is survived by her children; Terry "Rufus" Schmit, Gary Schmit, Toni (Ken) Rochon, John Schmit, and Mary (Fred) Triggs; her grandchildren Cortney (Cody) Leuthold and Katie Rochon; and a great-granddaughter Callie Leuthold.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dutch, a sister Lois Sporle, her son Robert Jones, her granddaughter Naomi and grandson Cory Rochon.

Betty was known for her wit and sense of humor.

A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in MIneral Point. Pastor Kathy Jacobson will officiate. Burial of cremains will be held at Graceland Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 12 noon until time of service at the Gorgen Funeral Home.

The Celebration will continue at Tony's Tap following the service.
