Obituary

Mineral Point - Betty Jean Horne, age 77, of Mineral Point passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Meriter Hospital in Madison.

She was born in Dodgeville on February 25, 1943 the daughter of Earl and Beulah (Kahl) Steensland. She graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1961. She married Eugene Horne on June 19, 1967. Betty worked for the City of Mineral Point as Clerk and Treasurer for 45 years. She was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Mineral Point. She enjoyed reading, trips to the casino, hanging out with the coffee clutch and spending time with family and friends. Betty was a diehard Badger basketball fan.

Betty is survived by her two sons: Patrick and Rodney Horne both of Mineral Point; her three siblings: Ronald Steensland of Apache Jct., AZ, Barb Peters of Gainsville, FL and Karen (David) Speth of Janesville; her two step sisters Karen Judd and Janet McNeill; her stepbrother Russell Moen; her sisters-in-law Marcia Wahl, Arlene Sommers, Maricia Pilling; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene on September 20, 2001.

Private Family Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Gorgen Funeral Home in Mineral Point. Pastor Margo Martens of the Hope Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Gorgen Funeral Home.

Due to Wisconsin's public health mandate, masks are to be worn during the duration of your visit inside of the Funeral Home and that you practice proper social distancing guidelines.
