Mineral Point - Bernard Joseph Walsh, age 87, of Mineral Point passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 22, 2015 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on February 26, 1928, the son of Joe and Merie (Fritz) Walsh. He graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1945. He was united in marriage to Marion M. McCluskey on October 15, 1952. Bernie and Marion farmed in Waldwick all their lives.
After retirement he worked at the Pit Stop and Pointer Wash. He enjoyed his trips with his dear friend Glenn Kinch. He loved the entire Kinch family. He had the gift to gab and shared it with all that new him. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of St Mary & Paul's Catholic Church.
Bernie is survived by his wife, Marion; his children, Blaine (Jolene) Walsh and Gloria (Mark) Yager; six grandchildren, Ryan Walsh, DeAnn (Chadd Borchardt) Walsh, Stephanie Yager, Brad (Judy) Yager, Megan Yager and Alicia Yager; his sister, Joann (Donald) Brunker, of Ridgeway; his brother, Pete Walsh; his sister-in-law, Norma McCluskey; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Bernie is preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister, Bernadine and his brother, Frank and his sister-in-law, Kaye Walsh.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Monsignor Monte Robinson and Fr. David Flanagan will co-officiate. Burial of cremains will be in St. Paul's Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
