Dodgeville – Arlene M. Paynter, age 81, of Dodgeville, WI passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Saturday, December 2, 2017.

Arlene was born on November 5, 1936 in Dodgeville, WI to Walter and Florence (Cutler) Ast. Arlene, the youngest of three children, graduated from Pleasant Ridge School. On January 4, 1958 she married Roger Paynter. Together they raised three children before parting in 1984. Arlene spent her working years with the public at the telephone company, Strong's Bank, Wal-Mart, and the Farm Service Agency formerly known as ASCS. During retirement, she enjoyed being a nanny, gardening (particularly growing tomatoes), watching old western TV shows and going on walks at Governor Dodge State Park. Most off all, she enjoyed spending time and creating memories with her grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her children Vicky Johnson of Dodgeville, Steve (Jamie) Paynter of Verona and Karen Paynter of Dodgeville; grandchildren Brittany (Derek) Wienkes of St. Charles, IL, Rick (Kate) Paynter of Dodgeville WI; great-grandchildren Brooklynn and Madalynn Paynter; her sister Marian (Jack) Reynolds of Dodgeville; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Walter Ast.

Private family services will be held.
