Mineral Point - Anna Mae Fisher, age 100, of Mineral Point, WI, ascended in peace and prayerful grace on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at home in Madison. Her parents, John William and Anna Marie (Berg) McDermott, welcomed her into this world on January 12, 1915. Born and raised in Mineral Point (MP), she graduated from St. Mary's Grade School and MP High School, and then attended Miss Brown's School of Business in Milwaukee. She thrived as a medical secretary for MLW orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Herman C. Schumm and Dr. Albert C. Schmidt.

On November 29, 1941, Anna Mae married Thomas Perkins Fisher in Milwaukee's St. Rose of Lima Church, where she sang in the choir and was an active member of the parish. In June 1943, WWII called her husband to serve, and Anna Mae then moved back to MP to live with her parents. A month later, she gave birth to Greg, the first of their five children. After the war, the family lived in Monroe for a short time, and settled in MP.

For many years at St. Paul's Church, she enjoyed playing the organ, directing the choir, and singing with Marian Schmitz, Ruth Mitchell and Gerta Engels in a wonderful quartet. From 1966-1974, she was employed at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dodgeville as a purchasing agent and later as secretary to the administrator. In 1986, the retired couple moved to Dodgeville and became members of St. Joseph's Church. After Tom's death in 1989, Anna Mae lived in Dodgeville and Madison alternately.

Her joy was spending quality time with family and friends, singing and gracefully dancing anywhere…anytime, golfing, solving crossword puzzles, lively card playing with any willing participants while memorizing every card played, listening to music, and happily doing volunteer activities for church, neighbors and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and son, Thomas Gregory; sister, Genevieve (Alex) Toth and brother, James (Joyce) McDermott; sisters-in-law, Josephine (Roy) Perkins and Annabel (Donald) Larson; and niece, Jean Anne Toth.

Surviving are her children: William (Cobb, WI), Dianne (Boulder, CO), Deborah (Richard) Cape (Fort Collins, CO) and Marilyn (Madison, WI). Grandchildren: Shari (Jamie) Johnson, Jason (Michelene) Fisher, Abigail and Madison Cape. Great grandchildren: Jeron, Jaden and Jordon Johnson, and Amiah and Maddox Fisher. She cherished her nieces and nephews, extended relatives and special friends.

A graveside blessing and interment will be held at St. Paul's Cemetery, Mineral Point, on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Anna Mae's life at Dodge-Point Country Club from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. (1771 Co Hwy D, Mineral Point, WI). Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Maria Goretti Parish, 5313 Flad Avenue, Madison, WI 53711, or to a favorite nonprofit organization.

Heartfelt appreciation is extended to all who showed their love for Anna Mae in her lifetime. The kind attention and energy so graciously given to Mom and our family on her path to passing came from so many people: friends of family members, friends of Anna Mae, Dr. Gordon Grieshaber, Heidi Sonnenberg, Sr. Marge Kalina, and the entire Hospice team.
