Linden – Alyce M. Stapleton, age 69, of Linden, passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.

She was born on March 23, 1945 in Shullsburg, WI, a daughter of the late Frederick and Melissa (Dietzman) Butteris. She married Leo J. Stapleton in Dubuque, Iowa in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1970. She owned a cleaning service for many years and retired from Lands' End in 2007.

Alyce enjoyed going to garage sales with her sisters, watching and going to Brewer games with Judy Lee and she treasured her ceramic dog collection.

Alyce is survived by her children, Steven J. Stapleton, of Dodgeville, Gene (Tera) Blackford, of Amherst, Lloyd Blackford, of Hollandale and Brenda Blackford, of Mineral Point; her sisters, Audrey Legler, of Dodgeville and Annibelle Aide, of Highland; her grandchildren, Kelsey, Hayden, Alexis, Brock and Breken; two great grandchildren, Brady and Molly; her very close friends, Barb Dietzman, Judy Lee, Sharon Connor, Deb Thormann, Paula Olson and Sharon Gullickson; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Avis Butteris, her brother, Adrian Butteris, her nephews, Scott Butteris and Bob Legler, her nieces, Candy and Brande Aide.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Burial will be held in Hyde Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
