Alvin J. Revenig's Obituary
Dodgeville - On October 21, 2015, our beloved father, Alvin "Al" Revenig, passed away at home at the age of 84 years. Family visitation will be held at noon on Sunday, October 25 at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Dubuque Iowa with services at 1 p.m.
Al was born on May 8, 1931 to Alvina and Alvin "Joseph" Revenig in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean War, being discharged at the rank of Corporal in 1954.
Al was united in marriage to Shirley Schmerbach on December 1, 1951 in Dubuque, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Revenig on July 8, 1975. He was employed by Litton Industries for 25 years where he sold business machines in Dubuque and the surrounding area. Upon retirement from Litton Industries, he moved to Cuba City, Wisconsin in 1974, and became the owner-operator of the Dairy Sweet Drive-In Restaurant on Main Street. In 1999, after selling the drive-in, he moved to Dodgeville, Wisconsin, where he began the Dodgeville Agency of Special Olympics Wisconsin. He was manager of the track and field and bowling programs for Special Olympic athletes in Iowa County until he retired in 2013, a vision that will live on through future generations. Al worked tirelessly to provide opportunities for his son, Chris, to reach his full potential. Al also enjoyed the many weekends spent on the houseboat while the kids were growing up. He looked forward to the hunting/fishing and camping trips to Canada with Max and others whenever possible. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Al was the proud father of Steve (Kathy), Julie (Howard "Bill") Schroeder, Alan (Vicki), Jan (Bill) Britt, Jean (Lee) Christensen, and Chris. He had 11 grandchildren Claire, Becky, Sarah, Kathryn Revenig; Shirley Hatch, Jon Schroeder; Brady and Brett Revenig; Adam and Megan Britt; Josh Christensen and three great-grandchildren Macie and Miles Schroeder and Nathan Dewey and soon to be born Addison Revenig and Baby boy Hatch.
The family is deeply grateful for the support and compassion by the marvelous staff of Upland Hills Hospice for the excellent care provided to Al.
