Dodgeville—Alan Mark Ladd, age 67, of Dodgeville passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Upland Hills Health surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 26, 1955 in Dodgeville, son of Chadwick and Marion (Rhinerson) Ladd. He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1973. In 1978 he married Teresa Jacqueline "Jackie" Haga and together they had 3 children: Carmen, Chadwick, and Caitlin.

Alan was a part of Walnut Hollow Farm for 49 years. He started as a logger, then became a CNC programmer, and spent the majority of his career there as the kiln operator and Plant Manager. Alan retired in April 2022 but said last week: Retirement isn't all it's cracked up to be, as he wrapped all the Christmas gifts for his kids and grandkids while Jackie was still working.

Alan loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He took great pride in caring for his property with his many machines (which his family called his "toys"). In the last 17 years Alan's greatest joy has been his grandchildren Isabella "Izzy" and Quinn "Two Shoes" Koch. Who would have thought one of this big tough guy's favorite activities every June for the last 15 years was sitting through a five-hour dance recital, where apparently there were only two girls he was able to see.

From the day of his father's passing, and for the next 45 years after that, Alan helped take care of his mother. He also extended his web of support to anyone who needed it. There was nothing Alan couldn't do; now so many of us won't know who to call when we need help. He was never one to brag, however he always made sure the job was done to his special level of perfection. The world will now have one less quiet helper.

Alan is survived by his wife Jackie, his mother Marion (over 100 years old); his children: Carmen (Keegan Koch) Ladd-Koch, Chadwick Ladd, and Caitlin Ladd; his grandchildren: Izzy and Quinn; his siblings: Nancy Johns and Barbara Thompson; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Chadwick Ladd and his brothers-in-law Doug Johns and Bill Haga and his sister-in-law Mary Lucker.

The family would like to sincerely thank the Dodgeville EMS and the Upland Hills emergency staff for their compassion and caring.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 5:45 pm on Wednesday January 11, 2023 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville, WI with a service held at 6:00 pm. Please join the family for food and fellowship at the Dodger Bowl following the service.
