Scott A. "Sully" Sullivan
October 30, 1966 - April 11, 2012
Dodgeville – Scott Alan Sullivan, age 45, of Dodgeville, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home with his loving wife by his side, following a long, ferocious and courageous battle with melanoma cancer. Scott was born on October 30, 1966 to Robert and Esther (Anderson) Sullivan. He graduated from Dodgeville High School in 1985 and started working in the bowling business and never left. Scott worked and bowled at many of the bowling alleys in Southwest Wisconsin. His passion was to help people become better bowlers and to enjoy it for the sake of the game. He made an immeasurable number of friends through bowling and loved them all. By the time Scott had to end his bowling career because of health reasons, he had achieved thirty 300 games and twelve 800 series. Scott's other passion in life was his family. He married Darci Nielsen in 1996 and together they had three beautiful daughters which were his pride and joy. He left his family with many wonderful memories of fishing, golf carting, trips to the petting zoo, rides in the countryside and fun around the fire pit. Family trips to the cabin were always a favorite. Scott is survived by his wife, Darci; his daughters, Alyssa (12), Emily (9) and Carley (5); his brothers, Jim Sullivan, of Dodgeville, Dan (Diane) Sullivan, of Wausau and Tom (Kadie) Sullivan, of Rothschild; his sister, Kathy (Loren) Polkinghorn, of Dodgeville; his mother-in-law, Jackie Nielsen, of Dodgeville; his brothers-in-law, Jim (Dayle Lopez) Nielsen, of Madison, Todd (Deb) Nielsen, of Lakeland, MN and Brian (Miriam) Nielsen, of Lansing, MI; his sister-in-law, Lifka (Chuck) Bennett, of Mineral Point; his nieces and nephews whom Scott adored, Cody and Brianna Bennett, Brianna Sullivan, Megan Powell, Irene, Mathias and Sophia Nielsen; and his special Aunt Hazel Kelly, of Dodgeville; and many wonderful cousins. Scott was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, David Paul Sullivan, and special aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH in Dodgeville. Pastor Steven Kottke will officiate. Burial will be held in East Side Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. Scott's life was cut shorter than he or any of us wanted, but he leaves behind the message to enjoy each day and live life to the fullest. Both Scott and his family wish to thank our family, friends, and the community for the outpouring of support the past few years. He always knew he was especially loved and blessed by so many. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to an education fund to be set up for Scott's daughters.
