Gordon J. "Gordy" Lehner

June 5, 1934 - April 1, 2015

Blue Mounds / Dodgeville – Gordon J. "Gordy" Lehner, age 80, of Blue Mounds, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Bloomfield Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born on June 5, 1934 in LeRoy, WI, the son of Edwin and Helen (Schaefer) Lehner. He grew up on a farm in rural LeRoy, with 3 brothers and 2 sisters. While a senior in high school, he was selected Wisconsin "Star" Farmer of the Year by the FFA. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1952 and joined his father in operating the family farm. In 1955, at a skating rink in Fond du Lac, he met Leona "Lee" Fruehbrodt, the girl of his dreams and love of his life, and married her on August 31, 1957. He was a proud, hardworking farmer and spent most of his working life in the business of agriculture. He was a licensed pilot and avid fan of aviation. Gordy was active in Lions Club, Jaycees, Holy Name Society, and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. Gordy is survived by his wife Lee and their seven children, Laurie (David) Ogletree of Madison, Julie (Greg) Gevelinger of Dodgeville, Tony (Denise) Lehner of Fairhope, AL, Ann Lehner of Sun Prairie, Dan (Brenda) Lehner of Owasso, OK, Karen (Brett) Schuppner of Baraboo, and Peter (Theresa Basile Andrews) Lehner of Sun Prairie. He is also survived by grandchildren one great grandchild a brother-in-law and countless friends and relatives. Gordy is preceded in death by parents Edwin and Helen Lehner and siblings Halarian, Mercedes, Florence, Florian, and Harold. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Monsignor Daniel Ganshert will officiate. Inurnment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friend may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville, where a parish rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the church. The family wishes to send our deepest gratitude to Bloomfield Healthcare and to Agrace Hospice for the very compassionate care of Gordy. Also thanks to Mark Mavus and the PT staff for their dedicated work and friendship. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bloomfield Healthcare or Agrace Hospice.
