David W. DeVoss Sr.

January 4, 1939 - June 17, 2022

Dodgeville - David Wayne DeVoss Sr., of Dodgeville, passed away on June 17, 2022 at the age of 83 at home surrounded by his family, after a heart breaking period of mental and physical decline caused by his dementia. David was born on January 4, 1939 in Jefferson, Iowa to Freddy DeVoss and Margaret Goodwin. He married the love of his life of 62 years, Dorothy (McCluskey) DeVoss on September 17, 1960 and together they raised three children. David worked at Badger Ammunition in Baraboo, WI in his younger years and ran Dodgeland Harvestore for many years before finding his calling driving truck. David enjoyed driving truck across the country for 40 years before retiring in 2019. David enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all that knew him. David is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy, and their three children, Dennis DeVoss of Ridgeway; David DeVoss Jr. of Dodgeville; and Denise Cottone (Roger Richards) of Spring Green. His siblings, Larry DeVoss (Catherine) of Dodgeville, Orville (Carol) DeVoss of Linden, Gary (Cora) DeVoss of Texas, Tom (Kathy) DeVoss of Dodgeville, Richard Blackford of Missouri, Kay Colbert of Iowa and Sharon Hart of Missouri. His ten grandchildren, Hunter DeVoss (Anna Albert) Savannah DeVoss, Dulaney (Cody) Wedig, Jessica (Cody) Albrecht, Mitch (Jessica) Kroll, Alec McSherry (Natasha Mcquirk), Kaleb Cottone (Chole James), Brooke Cottone (Dallas Mitchell), Cole Cottone, and Meia Cottone. He also leaves behind ten great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. David is proceeded in death by his parents Freddy (Lois) DeVoss and Margaret (Bill) Blackford, his sister Sharon Morrison, and his three brother’s Lloyd Blackford, Dick DeVoss, and Fred Blackford. He is also proceeded in death by his grandson Michael Caviale. Along with many in-laws, aunt’s, uncle’s and friends. David’s family extends a heartfelt thanks to the Upland Hills Hospital Staff and the Upland Hills Hospice Staff for their care, support and mentoring. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the funeral home.
