Nancy A. Marr

Mineral Point - Nancy Ann (Gorgen) Marr, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison after a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born in Dodgeville on July 10, 1946, to Robert and Helen (Collicutt) Gorgen. She grew up in Mineral Point, attended UW–La Crosse, and lived briefly in California. On July 15, 1967, she married Jerome William Marr in Huntington Beach, California. Together, Nancy and Jerry were blessed with four children and ten grandchildren: Courtney (deceased 1968); Wendy — Delaney (27) and Kennedy (22); Krista (David) — Myah (28), Mara (26), Macy (23), Malea (20), and Drew (18); and Jeremy (Rebecca) — Isaac (15), Clara (13), and Lucy (10). Brother: Gary Gorgen, Brothers-in-law: Richard (Kitty) Marr, Jim Marr, and Greg (Cheryl) Marr, Sister-in-law: Mary Jean (Ralph) James. Nancy’s devotion to her family was a cornerstone of her life. She was a loving and dedicated wife who treasured time spent with Jerry, including selling Marr Family beef together at the Madison Farmers Market. She was an exceptional mother and grandmother who devoted much of her life to caring for and supporting her children and grandchildren, faithfully attending and cheering them on in their many extracurricular activities. Nancy also dedicated 45 years as a Weight Watchers group leader and deeply valued the friendships and community she built through her work in health and wellness. She was an active member of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s Catholic Church for more than 50 years and enjoyed volunteering both there and with the American Legion. Nancy loved being around people and found great joy in the many friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She especially cherished her card club, Farmers Market, exercise group and coffee group friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM and on Friday from 9:30 - 10:50 AM all at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH. A luncheon will follow the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Nancy’s honor and will be directed toward causes in the community that were especially meaningful to her.
