Annabelle Schaaf

Mineral Point - Annabelle Schaaf age 92 of Mineral Point passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014 at Bloomfield Manor, Dodgeville, WI. She was born in Platteville, WI on May 14, 1922, a daughter of William and Alice "Mabel" Hottenstein. She graduated from Rewey High School in 1940 and Platteville Normal College in 1943. She taught in Northern Wisconsin with her long-time friend Lillian Lawinger until she married Francis Schaaf. Annabelle and Francis were married on December 28, 1943 at St Paul's Catholic Church in Mineral Point. They were married for 58 years. They farmed in Mineral Point their entire life. Her greatest Love was her Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. She was proud of the fact that she had three sons that served in Vietnam. Annabelle was a member of the St Paul's Catholic Church. She loved to Cook and Work on the farm along with Francis. She was very fond of flowers and gardening along with her love of bird watching, especially Cardinals. Annabelle is survived by 3 children, Larry (Linda) Schaaf, Tom (Linda) Schaaf and Judy Lieder, all of Mineral Point, WI; nine grandchildren, Pat Schaaf of Mineral Point, Amia (Rick) Lonigro of McFarland, WI, Amanda (Josh) Harford of Cottage Grove, Terry Schaaf of Sun Prairie, Robert (Kim) Schaaf of Verona, WI, Jeremy (Heidi) Schaaf of Sycamore, IL, Lisa (Josh) Stewart of Dodgeville, Michele Lieder of Madison, and Michael Lieder of Dearborn, MI; her great grandchildren, Brooke, Lindsey, Kylee Belle, Ross, Maddie, Terry Jr, Alison, Samantha, Ben, Kaylee, Anna and Grace; one brother, Kenneth Hottenstein of Platteville; three sisters, Alice (Joe) Pawlak of Waupun, WI, Gail (John) Lupe of Mokena, IL, Sharon (Gary) Withrow of Platteville, WI and one sister-in-law, Darlene Franklin of Berlin, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis and son Jerry Schaaf, a brother, Clinton Hottenstein and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-Law, Edward (Dorothy) Schaaf, Donald (Bonnie) Schaaf, Bill (Patricia) Schaaf, Mel Franklin and Rita (Paul) Whitford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31 at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Father Monte Robinson will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Thursday at the church.
