Ridgeway - Genane A. Wagner, age 85, of Ridgeway, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Sienna Crest in Dodgeville.
Genane was born on February 15, 1924, to Earl and Annie (Fitzsimons) Paull in Ridgeway. She attended school in Ridgeway and Lamar, CO and after graduation went on the beautician school in Colorado Springs. Genane married Floyd L. Hurd and together they had three children. During this time, she was employed at Oscar Mayer and W. A. Kruger. On March 17, 1954, she married Bill F. Wagner. In retirement, they built a log home in Necedah, WI.
She enjoyed crafts and everything she touched became a work of art. Other activities included weekly card games, watching the grandsons perform in their bands, gambling trips, music, and Fox News. Genane lived life to the fullest and made friends wherever she went.
Genane is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Curt) Venden; her sons, Scott (Connie) Hurd, Rex (Donna) Hurd; her step son, Hank (Toni) Hurd, of Tucson, AZ; her grandchildren, Lane (Kellee) Venden, Wade (Barb Fullmer) Venden, Zachary Hurd, Courtney Hurd, Niki (Mike) Rochon, Tanya Doescher and Kristen (Gabe James) Mester; great grandchildren, Clayton Venden, Paige and Kerstin Hurd, Aliyah Rochon; her aunt, Laura Thorpe; her brother, Wayne (Elvira) Paull; her sister, Barb Erickson; her sisters-in-law, Reva McCorkle and Lois Black, both of Lamar, CO and Joyce Hurd, of Janesville; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Floyd Hurd and Bill Wagner, her brothers-in-law, Lee Black, Gilbert McCorkle, Roy (Dee) Hurd and Marvin Erickson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2010 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Rev. LeRoy Strutt will officiate. Burial will be held in Eastside Cemetery in Ridgeway. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
