Mineral Point - Virginia Vaverek, age 74 of Mineral Point passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2010. She was born in West Virginia on April 29, 1936 the daughter of Herless and Dixie (Adams) Lucas. She married Richard Vaverek in 1964 in Chicago, IL. She worked at the Mineral Point Care Center for several years. Virginia enjoyed gardening, working on puzzles, and spending time with her grandsons.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Richard, of Mineral Point; a daughter, Sue (Mack Friedlend) Pickett, of Dodgeville; two grandsons, Taylor and Sean Pickett; her good friend, Troy Pickett; a sister, Lillie Mae Belcher, of Kentucky; a brother, Oscar (Joyce) Lucas, of West Virginia; and her best friend, Barb Ludwig, of Mineral Point. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, David, Carmel, Elmer, Thomas, and Kermit, and a sister, Virgie.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 11:00 am at the FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH in Mineral Point. Pastor Cal Schaver will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 9:00 am until time of service at the church.
