Thousand, Ronald V.
January 31, 1948 - December 24, 2009

Mineral Point / Barneveld - Ronald V. Thousand, age 61, of Mineral Point, formerly of Barneveld, died unexpectedly December 24, 2009 of natural causes. Ron was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, friend and colleague. Born January 31, 1948 to Vernon and Garnetta Thousand, Ron spent his life involved in farming and serving the farming community. His passion for agriculture began when farming the Thousand family farm in Barneveld until 1979 when he purchased his dairy farm in Arena where he also hauled milk for Mill Creek Cheese and for the last 16 years he was a dedicated team member at Farm & Fleet of Rockford Illinois and Dodgeville Wisconsin. Married to Karol Collins in 1971 he raised 3 great kids, Lynne (Tom) Paradis, Mineral Point, Michael (Stacey) Thousand of Mineral Point, and Amanda (Nick) Wozniak, Rochester MN.

Ron enjoyed all the relationships and friends he built through his involvement in farming and the farming communities. But most of all he enjoyed the "adventures" as he would call them, with the grandkids. It really didn’t matter if it was watching planes land at the airport or finding the new mama and baby cow in the pasture, one thing for certain Papa would make sure traveling with him was an adventure. His nine grandchildren, Hunter & Dathan Paradis, Halayna, Landon, Lila and Ronica Thousand of Mineral Point, and Trevor, Rinoa and Scarlett Wozniak of Rochester MN will miss him dearly.

Survived by his wife, children and grandchildren he is also survived by mother Garnetta Thousand, Verona Wisconsin, sister Sharon Thousand Barneveld, brothers Thomas – Kathy of Dane Wisconsin and Daniel – Elaine of Lake Mills Wisconsin.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 at 11:00am at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Father James Hinnen will officiate. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 4:00 until 8:00pm and on Monday from 10:00am until time of service at Ss. MARY & PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point.
