Mineral Point - Rebecca “Becky” Irene Springer of Mineral Point, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 from cancer at Upland Hills Health of Dodgeville, surrounded by her family and friends. Thankfully, the exceptional staff of Upland Hills Health of Dodgeville worked tirelessly to make her last days comforting and loving.
She was born on February 25, 1947, to William and Elizabeth (Lynch) Mills, of Mineral Point, she was the third of four children: William Jr. “Billy“, Bruce, and Maribeth. Becky’s first job was at her parents’ business, Mills Redwood Restaurant. There she learned recipes that are treasures to this day. Becky graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1965. She was employed by the General Telephone Company in Dodgeville prior to her marriage to Larry Springer in 1966. Becky also worked for Lands’ End and most recently for Wisconsin Independent Businesses. Becky enjoyed crafts, especially crocheting. Her beautiful blankets, hats, and scarves will continue to give her family joy. The jobs she held showed her talents and intelligence; but her life with her children and grandchildren always claimed the greatest passion in her heart.
Becky is survived by her three children, Steven (Sheri) of Linden, Mark (Christine) of Linden, and Christine (Pete) Klenow of Stanford, CA; eight grandchildren, William, Paige, Ashley, Abigail, Nolan, Samuel, Quinnan, and Annalise; her brother, Bruce (Kathy) Mills of Wisconsin Rapids; her sister, Maribeth Weier, of Madison; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, as well as several life-long friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father and her brother, William Jr. “Billy“ Mills.
At her request, a private family service will be held at St. Paul's Cemetery, in Mineral Point.
