Rickey, Lawrence V. “Bud”

Ridgeway - Lawrence V. “Bud” Rickey, age 85, of Ridgeway, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008, at UW Hospital, after a farming accident. Bud was born on June 15, 1923, a son of Lawrence and Kate (Schindler) Rickey. He graduated from Arena High School in 1942, and then entered the U.S. Army, where he served with the Third Armored Spearhead 32nd Division, Company E, through the entire Europeon Tour in World War II . He married DeLila Hanson on August 28, 1948, at Barneveld Lutheran Church. Bud and DeLila farmed their entire marriage. He lived to farm; it’s what he loved to do. Bud was a member of the Barneveld Lutheran Church, and the Ridgeway American Legion Post No. 257.
Bud is survived by his wife, DeLila; his dog Smokey; his children Diane (Tom) Forseth, Den (Patty) Rickey, Dale (Deb) Rickey, Sandy Rickey (Clark Mindermann), and LouAnn (Tim) Wunnicke; his grandchildren, Matt (Tiff), Leah, Lauren, and Lesley Forseth, Jordan and Alyssa Rickey, Katie, Clint (Sonya), Tate, Lily, and Claire Rickey, Cole (Christy), T.J., Bobby, Trevor and Ty Wunnicke; great grandchildren, Bryce, Brynn, and Bree; his sister-in-law Peggy Rickey; and many loving nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters and his granddaughter, Lacey.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at BARNEVELD LUTHERAN CHURCH. Rev. Jack Way will officiate. Burial will be held in Hyde Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Ridgeway American Legion Post No. 257 at 2:00 p.m. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for memorials that will be made at a later date.
