Dodgeville - Paul W. Raess, age 81, of Dodgeville, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Bloomfield Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in rural Dodgeville.
He was born on July 10, 1930 in Mineral Point Township, the son of John and Alice (Adelmann) Raess. He was married to Marian J. Nagel on May 9, 1953 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Madison. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict. Paul was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and was a retired member of the Dodgeville Fire Department. He was employed at General Telephone for 36 1/2 years, retiring in 1991. .
Paul is survived by his daughters, Deb (Terry) Slaney and Diana (Mark) Klosterman, both of Dodgeville; his sons, David (Kris) Raess and Mark Raess, both of Dodgeville; his grandchildren, Shawn (Crystal) Slaney, Joshua & Jesse Slaney, Ryan & Megan Raess, Morgan (Brian) Leix, McKenzy Rolli, Lucas Klosterman; his great-grandchildren, Baylee Leix, Brock Scullion & Katie Henson; his sisters, Eleanor Janssen, of Dodgeville and Mary Alice Jackson, of Wamic, OR; his sister-in-law, Grace Raess, of Darlington; his brothers-in-law, Alfred Nagel, of Montello, James Nagel, of Richland, MO and Robert (Donna) Nagel, of Lynn Haven, FL; several nieces & nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian, his son, John and brothers - John & Robert and his sisters, Ida Mae & Berta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Father Patrick Wendler will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where Military Graveside Rites will be accorded by the Dodgeville Area Veterans. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville.
The family would like to thank the staff at Bloomfield Healthcare and Dr. Grunow for their loving care of Dad for the last few months.
