Dodgeville – Donald McCluskey, age 81, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 15, 2008. He was born on November 29, 1926, the son of Edward and Helene (Heibel) McCluskey and lived his entire life in the Dodgeville area. He married Norma Adams on November 15, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dodgeville and they celebrated 60 years of marriage in November 2007. Don worked for many years as a construction laborer and was a loyal parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was an avid baseball fan, a good friend, a willing and accomplished dancer, and a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. A favorite family memory is of Don and Norma dancing to “The Anniversary Waltz” to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at the wedding reception of their grandson Erik.
Don is survived by his wife Norma; his children Gayle (Roger) Perkins of Madison, Kim (Mary) McCluskey of Menomonee Falls, Diane (Michael) O’Brien of Verona, and Mark (Jana) McCluskey of Janesville; his grandchildren Erik (Cynthia) Perkins of Oshkosh, Marissa and Chelsey McCluskey, Kacie and Sean O’Brien, and Brice and Keegan McCluskey; his great-grandson Gavin Perkins; his sisters Betty Evans and Delores Hammond both of Dodgeville and Marion (Bernie) Walsh and Carol (Ed) Cody all of Mineral Point; his sisters-in-law Lillian Flesch of Verona, Gerry Dott of Sun Prairie, and Wilma Baker and Marilyn Owens both of Mineral Point; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Helene McCluskey; his sister Lois Jones; his brother Joseph; and his brothers-in-law John Hammond, Don Evans, and Tom Jones.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at ST. JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Friends and relatives may call at the church on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic School or Upland Hills Hospice.
