Martin, Bill
December 20, 1937 - December 4, 2011

Mineral Point - Bill Martin, age 73, of Mineral Point, died peacefully at his Mineral Point home, Sunday morning, December 4, 2011. He was born on December 20, 1937, the first son of Wm. H. and Lauretta Martin, of Dodgeville. Bill was a student at St. Joseph’s Elementary School and a graduate of Dodgeville High School. Due to his father’s untimely death, Bill assumed management of the family business with his mother, and also the rearing of his younger siblings, while still a high school student. Upon completion of high school, he continued managing the family business with his mother.

Bill served with the U.S. Army at Fort Wainwright, Alaska for a year and a half until the needs of his mother and siblings required him to accept an honorable discharge from the Army. He then returned to Dodgeville.

Bill was known as a master commercial painter owning his own business in Madison and then working for many years with Klein-Dickert paint division in Madison. He retired in January, 2000.

As an avid sportsman, Bill was unsurpassed. He could be found fishing in Alaska, riding packhorses through the Rockies hunting, fishing every local lake, stream or river and hunting every field or woods. His most recent joy was to hunt area rabbit patches with his little beagle, Calli.

Bill is survived by his wife, Katherine; daughter, Heather Patti (Cory); son, Clark Martin (Kari); daughter, Beth Turner (Marvin); son, Tom Spicuzza. He is further survived by his sister, Mary Martin, his brother, Tom Martin (Hazel) and six grandchildren.
