Dodgeville - Jerry Gene Lengyel, II, age 41, of Dodgeville, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home of natural causes. He was born on January 8, 1969 in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Jerry Gene and Lynda (Dickey) Lengyel. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1988 and attended Southwest Tech in Fennimore. Jerry served with the Army National Guard Unit No. 229 in Prairie du Chien from 1992 - 2000 and worked for Lands’ End for 11 years.
Jerry was a wonderful dad. He loved spending time with his kids, He also loved hunting morels every May and the woods were his special place, bow and gun hunting, telling crazy stories and making weird noises with his mouth that only people who loved him understood. He also had a photographic memory and a special love and knowledge of the universe and science.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Jana (Bourret) and their son, Landon Lengyel; his children, Sam Livingston and Brianna Lengyel; his step children, Brady and Tristan Bourret; his mother, Lynda Lengyel Cutler (Stan), of Linden; his siblings, Juli Lengyel Nohns (Mike), of Dodgeville and their children, Dalton, Brooke and Drake, Tawna Dickey (Jerry Kerkenbush), of Cuba City, and Tawna’s children, Ashley and Dakota Rice and Connor Rice-Syzmaszek (Great Nephew), Tracey Emberson, and his son, Adam, of Austin, MN, Jamie Cutler Silvers (Galen), of Linden, and their children, Kelly, Grace and Hunter, Tammy Cutler Rose (Glenn), of Arena, and their children, Angie, Larry and Jaden, Tom Cutler (Vivian), of Dodgeville, and their children, Lauren Cutler and Ashley Pitzen, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Gene Lengyel, I, his maternal grandparents, Richard and Vera Dickey and his paternal grandparents, Charles and Laura Lengyel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the LINDEN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Linden. Rev. Mary Anne Conklin will officiate. Burial will be held in Linden Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites accorded by the Linden American Legion. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville and from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
