MINERAL POINT - Virginia A. Leigh, age 85 of Mineral Point, passed away on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Nov. 30, 1922. She married Delzie Leigh on Jan. 18, 1941. She worked in previous years at Burgess Battery, Cobb Canning Factory, and the Dodge Point Country Club. She enjoyed her dog Ginny, going to church Sara Circle, visiting friends, family outings, and spending time with her kids, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia and Delzie were blessed with 10 children, Donald (Donna) Leigh, Raymond (Carol) Leigh, Shirley (LaVerne) LaDow, all of Mineral Point, Nancy Bonjour (Curt Edwards) of Dodgeville, Donna (Ron) Hughes of Mineral Point, Linda McLaughlin (Brent Wells) of Mineral Point, John (CJ) Leigh of Argyle, Robert Leigh (Amy Sparks) and Paul (Sue) Leigh of Rewey; 26 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delzie on Nov. 16, 1977; a son, James; a granddaughter, Dawn Frye; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Hawpe; a son-in-law, Jerry McLaughlin; and a sister-in-law, Marie Butteris.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Mineral Point. The Rev. Mary Anne Conklin will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, July 18, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME in Mineral Point and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was an inspiration to everyone she touched in her life. She will be greatly missed by her children, relatives, friends and "Ginny".
