Ridgeway - Lois V Greene, age 81 of Ridgeway, passed away peacefully at the Mineral Point Care Center in Mineral Point, WI early morning on Friday, December 30, 2011.
She was born on December 31, 1929 to Arthur and Lizzie (Pufahl) Burmeister in Jeffers, MN. She married George E. Greene on August 2, 1952. George and Lois had three children together; Karen Kepka of Skidmore, MO, Brian (Laura) Greene of Fontana, CA, and John (Susan) Greene of Ridgeway, WI, and also had the privilege to care for a number of foster children. The family lived in Mazomanie, WI for 19 years where Lois worked at Central Wisconsin Colony, in building 6. She was the owner of Uncle Milts Bar in Ridgeway, WI from 1979 until her retirement in 1992 when her son, John, and his wife, Susan, took over. Lois was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary in Ridgeway, WI and also was a volunteer at Ridgeway elementary school for years, where she was lucky enough to be able to help some of her grand children learn to read.
Lois enjoyed gambling and enjoyed life to the very fullest every time she went. She also was an avid antique collector.
Lois is survived by her three children, 11 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a great granddaughter.
Memorial Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
