Mineral Point - William F. “Bill” Gilman, age 74, of Mineral Point, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday January 7, 2010. He was born on August 12, 1935 the son of Gordon and Martha (Paynter) Gilman. He graduated from Linden High School in 1953. He married Idamae McGranahan on August 6, 1955 in Linden. He worked for the Mineral Point Township for 47 years, retiring in 2004. Bill enjoyed camping and walking his faithful dog, Duffer. Most of all Bill loved spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his best friend and wife of 54 years, Idamae; his daughter, Julie (Roger) Olson, of Cottage Grove; his granddaughter, Nichole Olson and his great granddaughter, Isabella Olson, of Baraboo; his brothers Carlton (Wilma) Gilman, of Dodgeville and Jack (Diane) Gilman, of Linden; his sister, Ann Nichols, of Linden; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Dick in 2003.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday January 11, 2010 at 11:00am at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Mineral Point. Pastor Mary Anne Conklin will officiate. Burial will be in the Linden Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday January 10, from 2:00 until 6:00pm and also on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00am at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Mineral Point.
