Dalton, Blair Eldon

DODGEVILLE – Blair Eldon Dalton, age 89, of Dodgeville, passed away peacefully Monday, June 14, 2010 at his home.
He was born November, 1, 1920 in Pardeeville, WI, the son of the late Eldon and Jesse (Stewart) Dalton. He was a graduate of Portage High School in 1938. He attended The College of Colorado and given an honorary degree in 1948 and received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Wisconsin in 1950.
He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving from September 6, 1940 until March, 14, 1946 as a second lieutenant during World War II. He married the love of his life Patricia L. Johnson in 1955 who preceded him in death in 2000. The couple moved to Appleton, Wisconsin in 1958. They also lived in Aurora, Illinois and Janesville, Wisconsin before moving to Dodgeville in 1966.
He is survived by his son, Blair J. Dalton and his daughter Andrea of Dodgeville, his daughter Susan Perkins of Dodgeville and Sue’s children, J.J. Prine of Madison and JoAnna (Kurt) Riha of Hollandale, and granddaughters Nicole (Barry) Hottmann of Dodgeville and Erin Van Epps of Madison, along with seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Julie (Mark) Van Epps of Dodgeville and his brother Stewart (Nancy) Dalton of Portage.
He was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church. At 52, he took up golf at the encouraging of his wife and son and became an avid golfer at Dodge-Point Country Club playing his last round in August of 2009. Pat and Blair owned and operated the Fashion Corner in Dodgeville for 23 years before she retired in 1992. He worked several sales jobs throughout his career notably with Central Soya, Walnut Grove and Crest Industries. Pat and Blair thoroughly enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States visiting friends and family.
He was a special person to so many people. He was a strong, caring, compassionate, spiritual, loving, witty and forgiving person. He was loved by all and he will be sorely missed. We will all remember the best times and wonderful moments.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, in Dodgeville. Rev. Steven Kottke will officiate. Inurnment will be held at later date in Comstock Cemetery in Pardeeville. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
