Mineral Point - Kenneth J. Canon, age 83, of Mineral Point, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 7, 1924 in Red Rock, Lafayette County, the son of Clifford and Clara (Kendall) Canon. He was united in marriage to Violet A. Jansen on September 30, 1950 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Mineral Point. Kenny worked at Gateway Lumber Company in Mineral Point, the City of Mineral Point Street Dept., and Nelson Muffler Corp. in Mineral Point, where he retired after 21 years. He loved cutting firewood, hauling brush and other odd jobs in his spare time. He had such a kind heart that he would do anything to help anybody. He never got over the loss of the love of his life, Violet, whom he loved ever so much. The love of his family, got him through the last 4 years without Violet.
Kenneth is survived by six children, Sharon (Walt) Lindeman, of Mineral Point, Ken (Shirley) Canon, Jr., of Monroe, Bob (Cheryl) Canon, of Dubuque, IA, Mike (Barb) Canon, of Mineral Point, Jerry Canon, of Mineral Point, Marie (Jim) Deutsch, of Mineral Point; 15 grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Lindeman, Bobbie Jo Canon, Kenneth Canon, III, Cody Canon, Josh Canon, Luke (Katie) Canon, Laura (Chad) Bahr, Brad (Felecia) Canon, Megan Canon, Mercedes Canon, Cecelia Canon, Jamie (Crystal) Orth, Allen (Nohe) Orth, Lance Deutsch and Carissa Deutsch; 10 great grandchildren, Megan and Erik Lindeman, Gracelynn Canon, Eden and Hailey Bahr, Aiden Canon, Molly and Bailey Orth, Liberty and Ava Orth; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews other relatives and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet, on March 2, 2004, infant son, John Joseph, parents, brothers and sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at ST. MARY’S / ST. PAUL’S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be held in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday at the church.
