Ayers, Bonnie J.
December 19, 1930 - January 22, 2010
Ridgeway - Bonnie J. Ayers, age 79, passed away Friday January 22, 2010 at Bloomfield Manor in Dodgeville WI. Bonnie was born on December 19, 1930 in Gratiot, WI to Albert and Lena (Korn) Anderson. She went to school in Gratiot when in her freshman year of High School she was invited to attend Prom by Gordon Ayers and they have been together ever since. They were married April 19, 1952 at St Joseph’s Church in Gratiot.
Gordon was in the Army and they moved to Clarksville TN while he served at Fort Campbell. Army life was fun and they met a lot of crazy couples. Those were happy days but they decided that Army life was not a good place to raise a family. After being discharged, they moved to Rockford IL. They decided that city life was not what they wanted and moved to Ridgeway WI. He worked for Ayers Furniture and Bonnie while raising her family worked for Ridgeway Elementary School, Ridgeway Post Office and finally retiring from the Ridgeway Bank.
They were blessed with five wonderful healthy children, three boys and two girls – Mike (Jeanne) Ayers, Bill (Cheryl) Ayers, Tom (Maria) Ayers, Rae Ann (Sudzy Hendrickson) Dougherty and Julie (Kenny) Toay.
They also had 15 grandchildren Ryan and Shane Ayers, Riley, Hailey, Michael and Matthew Ayers, Nick, Abby and Jacob Ayers, Derek (Lauren Shore) Dougherty and Brantley (Arielle Mason) Hendrickson and KayCee and Dustin Toay. She is further survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters Howard (Janet), Marvin, Robert (Patricia), twin sister Barbara Zimmerman and her sister Virginia. She is proceeded in death by her parents, brothers Ray and Albert Jr, sisters Mabel, Pearl and Alberta, 2 infant grandchildren Jon Michael and Kim Marie Ayers.
Even though most of them are full grown now, they are still her babies. She worried about them driving on bad roads, being sick and anything that was not going just perfect. She was a very good cook and hosted large Holiday Dinners which they all attended with plenty to eat and she wanted all to look forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas at Mom’s house.
She will be greatly missed and home will never be the same.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the GORGEN-McGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville. Father Peter Auer will officiate. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be preferred.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jodie McGraw and Jen, the staff of Hospice and Bloomfield Manor for the wonderful care during her illness.
